The designers of Shangri-La are the first to fully employ silk velvet in their haute couture evening wear designs. Until the 1990's most recent velvets were only rayon or acetate based, although velvet was first made from silk in the Middle Ages.
Despite a terrible fire that destroyed our downtown Cortland store, Shangri-La still had its planned for winter collection fashion show thanks to the help of a nearby shop owner and city government. Here are some photos taken at that event, which was also the fairwell party for Chinese artist Yi Hongbin.
This masterpiece along with more than
a dozen other high fashion gowns was
first displayed in our Fashion Soiree,
on 2 April 2005!

On April 2nd, at 7 PM, Shangri-La hosted an event to introduce our NEW SPRING COLLECTION of high fashion in-house designs. Gina Sikora along with several models introduced this collection. On October 15th 2005, we introduced our Fall Collection and the big fashion show for the year is Thursday, December 1st 2005, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Ithaca, NY, at 7 PM.
Shangri-La redefines the cutting edge of haute couture silk velvet devore fashion every day. Here is our latest creation, a silk velvet tail coat that goes great with a skirt or with pants. The
Shangri-La designers are constantly creating new unique looks for every style and occasion.
